The Project

AusGroup were awarded the BOG Flare Painting and Scaffolding Campaign as part of our PIF Campaign Award at Gorgon.

Continuous Improvement Initiatives

  • Industry norms dictate blasted surfaces are usually recoated in the same day. The AusGroup execution team challenged these constraints and found a more efficient way to use the available resources and still produce a high-quality product. Through the use of whip blast and refresh techniques the team increased productivity and decreased down time without sacrificing quality or safety, in fact these two metrics were both improved.
  • During the planning phase AusGroup identified the risk of lost time around breaks if the crew were required to walk to bus pick up areas and wait for scheduled buses (15min/man/break ~ 10hrs/day/crew). AusGroup booked a bus and drove the crew to and from the crib hut to the worksite saving this downtime.
